Pumpkin Spice Kombucha Cocktail

Last month, Winston and I traveled to South Lake Tahoe for some much-needed R&R. For the last two years, he and I have taken time to ourselves in the month of September, traveling for a week while our sweet families take care of our girl. (We are SO LUCKY!)

Needless to say, this year’s trip was amazing.

We climbed a mountain. We lounged poolside. We kayaked on the prettiest lake I’ve ever seen. We ate amazing food. And it was incredibly relaxing and laid back.

However, getting back to Dallas was anything but easy.

We arrived at the Reno airport before noon for our 2:45 p.m. flight… which was bumped to 3:45, then 4:45, then 6:15, then 8:30…

Apparently, there was a freak hailstorm in Vegas—where our connection was—and the weather simply wouldn’t let up. So our flight got bumped later and later and later… until it was cancelled.

We were stranded in Reno.

So we did what any reasonable human beings would do: We reserved seats on a direct flight to Dallas the next day, booked ourselves a hotel for the evening and went to bed.

Then woke up famished the next morning.

Since our hotel was centrally located, we were able to hike to a little breakfast place called Two Chicks, where we had a delightful breakfast.

While there, I also got my hands on the drink that inspired this Pumpkin Spice Kombucha Cocktail…

At Two Chicks, they offer a kombucha mimosa on their brunch menu, and when I spotted it, I knew I had to try it.

And y’all? A kombucha mimosa is a delightful way to start the day.

Since kombucha is lighter and more tart than orange juice, it’s the perfect complement to champagne or prosecco if you’re not into super sweet drinks. It also adds more BUBBLES!

I actively swooned over the cocktail during our breakfast, then decided I was going to make it at home.

So when my friends at Sprouts Farmers Market challenged me to use one of their new pumpkin branded products for a post, I was excited because I’m so pumped for all things fall. And when I discovered they have PUMPKIN SPICE KOMBUCHA (all caps necessary), I knew exactly what I was making.

Honestly, y’all, I was overjoyed to give this seasonal kombucha a try. While I’m not someone who regularly who swoons over pumpkin spice anything, this kombucha is special. The pumpkin spice adds flavor and a little sweetness without overwhelming the kombucha.

And when paired with prosecco? Well, it’s going to be a mainstay at every at-home brunch I host from here out because holy cow, is it delicious.

Pumpkin Spice Kombucha Cocktails

Ingredients

Kombucha Cocktail

  • 6 oz. Sprouts Organic Pumpkin Spice Kombucha
  • 4 oz. prosecco

Cinnamon-Sugar Rim

  • 1.5 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 lemon , sliced

Instructions

Rim the Glasses

  1. Take a slice of lemon, and trace it around the rim of the glass(es) you will use to serve this cocktail in.

  2. In a shallow bowl, combine the granulated sugar and cinnamon. Mix until combined. 

  3. Dip the lemon-rimmed glasses into the sugar-cinnamon mixture until the rims have been coated.

  4. Repeat however many times necessary, and set aside.

Pour individual servings of Pumpkin Spice Kombucha Cocktail

  1. Pour the Sprouts Organic Pumpkin Spice Kombucha into the prepared glass(es). 

  2. Top with prosecco.

  3. Serve immediately, and enjoy!

Recipe Notes

Multiple drinks can be made from a bottle of kombucha and a bottle of prosecco. Just measure them out according to the recipe and make them all in a row!
