I don’t know what it is about Halloween, but my seasonal recipe content for All Hallows Eve is thoroughly lacking compared to every other holiday we celebrate.

I’m workin’ on it, y’all.

And this Melting Monster Halloween Punch is my foot in the door… or something. 😉

This punch is a nod to a punch that a sorority sister’s mom always made. Whether it was for a shower or an informal get-together, her punch made an appearance, and I absolutely loved it. And not just regular love, y’all. I’m talkin’ Drink Five Glasses Because OMG SO GOOD love.

However, I never got the recipe.

So when I was brainstorming what I could make for Halloween that would be fun for both adults and kids, I remembered that punch and thought I’d give it a shot.

Turns out, my tastebuds remembered the flavors and led the way… and we made these festive by adding edible candy eyeballs!

Spooky and adorbs, right?

My daughter and her friend LOVED this punch so much, both sipping out of straws, then requesting spoons to scoop out the lime sherbet fizz. And his friend’s mama and I? Well, we enjoyed watching our toddlers enjoying something so much and both sipped on our own punches, too!

A drink the whole family can love! YAS!

Author Erin Parker, The Speckled Palate

Ingredients

  • 4 oz. lemonade
  • 4 oz. lemon-lime soda
  • 1 small scoop lime sherbet
  • Candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. In a glass, pour in all of the lemonade and 2 ounces of the lemon-lime soda.

  2. Scoop the lime sherbet into the glass.

  3. Decorate the sherbet with candy eyeballs. (Please beware that the eyeballs will move as the sherbet does, and some might slip into the drink. It’s hard to keep them steady.)

  4. When the monster sherbet has been decorated, pour in the rest of the lemon-lime soda.

  5. Enjoy immediately as the sherbet melts into the punch!

Recipe Notes

This recipe can easily be made for a crowd in a pitcher! Multiple the recipe to serve whatever amount of guests you'll be serving, then mix in a pitcher. (We made ours individual serving size so that the kids could decorate their monsters with eyeballs. This is a fun option if you're serving kiddos.)

If the adults would like, this punch would be delicious with some vodka (maybe marshmallow flavored or vanilla), rum or tequila. Choose your own adventure and let guests spike their own glass with the liquor of their choosing.

    That is clever!

You remind me that we did something similar when I was a kid – orange sherbet in ginger ale, so far as I remember – supposed to be a witch’s vat, I think. (All that bubbling and fizzing!) But the candy eyes bring it up a whole other level! I love it!
