While I’ve thoroughly enjoyed getting back to my roots of all the water during this Whole30, I’ve missed fun drinks.

Even though it appears that I’m a bit boozy IRL based on the cocktails I share here, I can assure you I’m not.

In fact, dropping alcohol for the Whole30 was actually the easiest thing to kick. (Heck, I was able to do that for nearly a year during pregnancy and the first few months of Lady A’s life, and I was able to do it pretty easily, too.)

    But sometimes, a girl wants a refreshing drink that isn’t a big glass ‘o water.

    So today, I made us a Whole30-compliant iced tea that can be out go-to for summertime picnics, barbecues and patriotic festivities.

    Specifically those patriotic festivities. Because whether or not you’re on the Whole30, we all deserve to have a delicious blackberry tea drink in hand this summer.

    What do I need to make Blackberry Tea?

    How do I make this Blackberry Tea

    In a heavy bottomed saucepan, heat the water over high heat. When the water comes to a boil, remove it from the heat, and add the blackberries, lemon and the tea bags.

    While the water is still hot, muddle the blackberries.

    Let the ingredients steep for an hour.

    Using a fine mesh strainer, strain the tea into a pitcher, then refrigerate, and serve cool.

    Erin’s Easy Entertaining Tips

    This blackberry tea is the perfect kind of drink to keep in your refrigerator all summer long because it’s incredibly refreshing. It’s also brilliant to keep on hand in case anyone stops by to say hello.

    In case you happen to be hosting guests and want to serve this naturally sweetened fruit tea, here are some other ideas:

    • Make your tea in advance. During the summertime, nobody wants a glass of hot tea… even if you add ice. Make this tea the day in advance, and let it chill overnight for maximum crispness.
    • No fresh berries? You could absolutely use frozen berries instead of the fresh ones listed in the recipe box below.
    • Not on a Whole30 and want to turn this mocktail into a cocktail? Serve the drink as is for the folks who are doing a Whole30 or don’t drink. If you want to spike this, feel free! I think it would be particularly refreshing with vodka, rum or even tequila.

    So this is a boring unsweetened tea?

    I’d like think it’s more than just an unsweetened tea. The blackberries are offering a lovely sweetness in this drink, and it packs all kinds of flavor, thanks to fresh blackberries and lemon slices.

    The best news is it goes down so easily and is super refreshing.

    And I don’t know about y’all, but I plan to have a pitcher of this goodness in my fridge all summer long.

    Can I use a frozen blackberries instead of fresh ones?

    If you can’t get your hands on fresh blackberries, absolutely! Just let the berries steep for longer so you can muddle them well—they’ll be impossible to muddle if still partially frozen.

    Could I use another type of berry or a berry mixture?

    Absolutely! Use whatever berries you have on hand, and enjoy!

    3. I made this for my parents who are doing whole30 and even though I usually do not like any tea, we all loved this! I used frozen mixed berries instead of fresh blackberries and it was still delicious!
