A Look Back: Top Recipes of 2013

It’s hard for me to believe that 2013 is coming to a close so soon because it feels like this year just began.

Things have been a bit silent around here for the last few days because we’ve been visiting Winston’s and my families for the last week and a half, and as you read this, we’ll be on the road back to our Texas home. Our little vacation has been glorious, and while I’m excited to sleep in my own bed, I always wish we had more time to spend with our families when one of our trips comes to a close.

It’s been a good year for me personally and here at The Speckled Palate, so I thought it would be fun to look at the stats to identify and share the 10 most popular recipes of the year.

      I love that this list had you drooling, Laura, and I particularly love those Memphis-style ribs. So so so so good and decadent. (Maybe it’s time for another barbecue week? Hmmm. Food for thought.)

We were actually passed out before the clock hit midnight, but that’s all right — I ran a half marathon that morning, so I think we ended the year with a bang AND started January 1 with one, too, by hosting friends and family for Winston’s famous gumbo.

    These all look incredible. I seriously need to make the Oven Fried Okra and Sweet Potato Bisque. And may I say that I love that #10 is a Bloody Beer. These are a staple in our house on game days and whenever we feel like drinking before noon, except we call them Red Beer which must be our West Coast roots. Happy New Year to you Erin!       Thanks, Chelsea! I seriously recommend both of those recipes, and I LOVE that y’all make “Red Beer” in your home for gamedays! (I first learned about the phenom as “Red Beer,” and then when I was in Louisiana, I was introduced to Bloody Beer, and that stuck… though the name is kind of unfortunate.)
