Frequently asked questions about this summer margarita recipe

How do these margaritas get their color?

    The frozen cherries!

I have fresh cherries, not frozen. Will those work?

They certainly will. The margaritas won’t be slushy if you use fresh cherries, but they’ll still taste delightful.

If using fresh cherries, make sure to pit them before blending.

Can I make these margs in a larger batch?

You absolutely can! These margaritas can easily be turned into a pitcher drink.

I suggest doubling or tripling the recipe and checking your math. 🙂

Squeeze the lemons in advance, and chill the juice in the fridge for a day or two in advance.

Just before guests arrive, blend the ingredients together so your margaritas will still be ice cold!

What is the inspiration behind this recipe?

Honestly, it was making a margarita that didn’t taste like a margarita.

    I KNOW. I AM RIDICULOUS.

My idea was for it to taste lemony and cherry-y without being overwhelmingly tequila-heavy. And while you can taste the tequila in this margarita, it isn’t too much in my opinion.

While this certainly isn’t a classic or a traditional margarita, it’s a fun twist, and it’s something you can drink all spring and summer long.

The color alone suggests it would be deliciously decadent to make a batch for Independence Day. Or any other day/holiday when you want to serve a bright red drink that has no added food coloring.

Easy Entertaining Tip: If making for a party, I suggest juicing the lemons in advance and storing in a glass jar in the refrigerator until it's time to blend the margaritas. That way, you won't be shackled to the juicer when you want to be socializing with your friends.
