Back in May, I was contacted by someone at Bestowed, a company that offers a monthly box full of healthy, delicious food products that have been hand-selected for members. Bestowed is the brainchild of nationally recognized nutritionist and author, Heather Bauer. Each month, Heather and her team curate five product samples that have caught their attention, spanning from nutrition bars to snacks to cereals and even supplements, among other categories.
Natalia from Bestowed wanted to see if I was interested in receiving and reviewing one of their boxes, as well as if I was interested in then hosting a giveaway for my readers for a one-month subscription of the service.
As someone who has spent a lot of time in the grocery store comparing products and wondering, ‘Which of these is really better for me?,’ I jumped at this opportunity, wondering what would be included in my Bestowed box.
A week later, a bright orange package arrived at my doorstep.
What I Received
- Good Eating Salads cookbook
- TeeChia Blueberry Date Cereal
- Dark Chocolate Sun Cups
- Way Better Snacks Sweet Chili Tortilla Chips
- California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil
- LaraBar Über Apple Turnover
- Navitas Coconut Water
What I Thought
I was super impressed with the variety and the quality of the products. I immediately dove into the Dark Chocolate Sun Cups, wanting an afternoon snack after taking the photographs of my Bestowed box, and I was thrilled at the taste. Basically, if you give me any kind of dark chocolate treat, I’m gonna be a happy girl, and the sunflower butter, while it definitely tasted like sunflower seeds, was good.
The box included some things I’ve never tried before, like the TeeChia Blueberry Date Cereal, the Navitas Coconut Water and the LaraBar Über Apple Turnover. As someone who doesn’t normally eat cereal, the TeeChia has been given to my husband, but my sampling was a pleasant surprise. (Winston also ate the Way Better Snacks Sweet Chili Tortilla Chips, and he said they were OK. I’m gonna have to get my hands on a bag of these so I can give them a shot, too.) The Coconut Water was relegated to rehydration after a long run, and it was good. And I snacked on the LaraBar one afternoon, happily enjoying the sweetness of the Apple Turnover bar that was sweet and flavorful, but not too sugary for my taste.
The Good Eating Salads cookbook has a ton of different salad recipes, and I’ll be enjoying this book for years to come.
I was also thrilled that the California Olive Ranch Extra Virgin Olive Oil was included in my box, as this brand has become a recent favorite of mine, and I’m glad to know the people at Bestowed agree with me on its quality. (Sometimes, it’s nice to have this reinforced, especially since I’m not a registered nutritionist and my knowledge of food only goes so far.)
