Super Bowl Recipe Roundup

If you’re like me, you might have forgotten that the Super Bowl is this weekend.

… Maybe it’s because you don’t follow professional sports.

… Maybe it’s because your team was knocked out of the running before the playoffs even began.

… Maybe it’s because you have been focusing on a ton of other things and were thinking the big football game was next Sunday instead of this one.

Or maybe it’s all of the above.

Whatever the case, today is the way we all wonder what the heck we’ll be bringing to our friend’s home for the big game. And lucky for y’all, I got myself together enough to pull together a little Super Bowl 2013 Food Guide. Or something.

Looking for a meaty dish?

bbqribsSMALL

How about these Memphis-style Pork Ribs? Or this delectable Pulled Pork Shoulder? Both barbecue dishes take some time, but they are certainly worth the wait.

If you’d rather go the burger route, check out the saucy Memphis-Style Barbecue Turkey Burger or the hearty Spinach and Feta Burgers.

… But what about sides to go with those meats you prepared?

BBQslawsmall

This Honey Mustard Coleslaw is a winner, especially for folks who aren’t keen on mayonaise-heavy dishes.

… What about an appetizer?

guac2SMALL

I’ve got you covered with Caramelized Onion Guacamole. Not an avacado fan? Check out Black Bean Dip and Winston’s Hummus, two crowd-pleasing dishes. Or you could get a little wild by serving Spicy Sesame Kale Chips. While it’s not traditional Super Bowl party fare, it is mighty delish.

… And drinks?

What about a Blizzard? If you’re starting out early, check out Bloody Beer and Blended Mimosas, two of my favorite morning drinks. And if you’re feeling really strong, how about Cutty Sark on the Rocks? (Bless you if you’re drinking this.)

… And if you’ve been appointed as a dessert maker for this Sunday’s shenanigans?

ooeygooey01SMALL

Bring the Ooey Gooey Bars. I guarantee they’ll be a hit. So will the Quebec Maple Pecan Drops if you give them a shot. But if you aren’t into cream cheese, try out the Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Sandwiches or Fig Pinwheels, two fun dishes that are a little different than normal party desserts.

Now I’ve got to know: What are your plans for Sunday? Will you be making anything special?

Thanks, Holly! They’re both pretty delicious… but I might be a bit biased.

And your buffalo chicken dip sounds good! How do you make it?

We are hosting our annual Super Bowl party and we always have a food theme – this year its cooking/baking with alcohol/beer! I can’t wait to see all the food/recipes. And I may add your Bloody Beer to the list!

I LOVE that y’all have a food theme for your Super Bowl party. LOVE. I cannot wait to hear how it goes… and if you try the Bloody Beer, let me know. It has become one of my favorite tailgating drinks because it’s super easy and tasty.

Um I’ll have one of everything. Normally when I’m invited to a Superbowl party I make my Game Day Chicken Quesadilla’s. Buttermilk and beer marinated chicken, onions, peppers, olives, jalepenos, cumin, cinnamon, cilantro, cheese… Health food.

Haha, that can totally be arranged. And your health food sounds EXACTLY LIKE my kind of health food. ;)

Will you be making your Game Day Chicken Quesadillas on Sunday?

Now that’s an interesting take on GUAC! Must try it out. I wanted to make some fun eats for Super Bowl but instead went out for sushi heh :)

I definitely recommend checking it out. I absolutely LOVE the onions in it! What kind of sushi did y’all have last night? That sounds delightful, too!
